Oswestry Lib Dems overturned Tory majority of 165 to take the seat in what will be the last by-election in Shropshire before the County becomes an Unitary Authority next year.

After the Count Romer said "This win shows that the Conservatives on Oswestry Borough Council and the County Council can no longer keep on taking local residents for granted with their insensitive policies. "...

"I will work hard in the remaining six months of the council to make sure that the residents of Castle Ward get the quality of work and service from their councillor that they deserve."

Independent 139, 27.2%

Hoseason Romer Wilfred 198,(LD) 38.7%

Conservative 174, 34%

turnout 23.94%
